The Aldabra Foundation exists to ensure the preservation of Aldabra while promoting scientific
research into Aldabra’s pristine marine and terrestrial environments. Its aim is to create a
world-class scientific environment, able to attract world-class research and, using the special
features of Aldabra, to effectively contribute to global awareness of the environmental and
other challenges now faced by mankind.

It is the conviction of the Foundation that if man can understand completely isolated
ecosystems like Aldabra he will one day acquire the tools not only to manipulate his
environment within a more sound ecological context, but also to reverse some of the great
damage he has done. Today Aldabra offers humanity an opportunity - as unexpected as it is
undeserved - to grasp how we may do both. The Aldabra Foundation is determined that this
opportunity shall not be squandered for lack of funds, friends or expert help.
